Dubai Internet City goes Tech Freelancer friendly

The Freelancers permit launched by Dubai Internet City strives to give freelancers an affordable and secure option to work in Dubai, while also providing a feasible and attractive package of affordability and talent for businesses. The permit which was launched last year, helps freelancers to work in Dubai at a fee of AED 7,500 per year. With this permit, freelancers have the opportunity to freelance their skills and also have access to the TECOM Business Center along with a visa.

The initiative is a magnet to attract the best of talents to Dubai in an effort to make the fast-growing cosmopolitan city into an innovation and talent hub. Freelancers con pump in their skills in sectors such as technology, education and media, where creativity and innovation are in constant demand. There is an exponential rise in the demand for skilled professionals in technology, data analysis, designing and programming and several other streams in the education and media sector.

The permit gives a ground for both the employer and freelancer to bind their contract on legal grounds in terms of timely payments and quality of work. This government initiative ensures that the terms of contract agreed upon are fulfilled with security given to both the parties involved.

Dual Licensing system in Abu Dhabi

Dual Licensing is a service that will allow companies established in Abu Dhabi Free Zone(s) to obtain a branch license from Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development in order to be able to practice their business activities outside the free zone without the need for a physical office. The new service is designed to offer a host of benefits for dual license holders and is designed to allow free zone companies to engage in a range of business activities outside their free zone. The dual licensing service applies to companies established in an Abu Dhabi Free Zone(s). The system does not apply to branches of foreign companies. The activities permitted are all commercial and marine services related activities governed by an Abu Dhabi Free Zone and Department of Economic Development regulations. Unlike foreign company branches, appointment of UAE national as a local service agent is not applicable since the Free Zone will endorse the occupant / investor.
